Preparing Room List
April 1934

First steps toward more rigid supervision of off-campus residences were taken during the latter part of February with the mailing of applications for inclusion in the approved list to all off-campus addresses and fraternity houses. The form of application is designed to provide the administrative committee on student residence with extensive information about the heating, lighting, ventilation and sanitary conditions of rooms being offered to students. In each case, this information will be supplemented by an inspection before the resdence dence is granted the approval of the com mittee.

Starting next fall, no student in any branch of the College will be allowed to room at an unapproved residence, and this requirement will enable the College to control more eifectively than in the past the living conditions of off-campus rooms. It has also been announced that the committee will place the burden of maintaining satisfactory conduct at off-campus residences upon the shoulders of those renting rooms to students. Complaints from both landlords and students are expected to be handled by the committee. The "Approved List of the Committee on Student Resident" will be available about April 15.
