I am happy to report the organization of a Dartmouth Alumni Association of Virginia on Friday, April 27, at Richmond. Present at the dinner and organization meeting were twelve Dartmouth alumni from Richmond and vicinity. Officers elected for the first year of the Association were Douglas Vander Hoof '01, president; Charles G. Milham '06, vice-president; and Roger D. Johnson '25, secretary.

The Association was organized for the purpose of maintaining Dartmouth social contacts and of arousing interest in Dartmouth and its activities in a part of the United States where it is less well known. The organization meeting was a direct outgrowth of the March meeting which was sponsored and held by Charlie Milham '06 at his home in Williamsburg. The Association feels especially indebted to him for his initiative and enterprise in getting Dartmouth activities started in this, the Virginia wilderness.

Vincent Byers '15, editor-in-chief of TheRichmond Times Dispatch, made all arrangements for the dinner at the Commonwealth Club. Tom Colt '26 offered us the use of the facilities of the Academy of Arts, where he is trying to improve Virginia's artistic possibilities. Just prior to the dinner, Mr. Vander Hoof, a classmate of President Hopkins and a well-known physician in Richmond, very kindly had us out to his home on the outskirts of the city, where we were all treated to the sight of one of Richmond's most beautiful gardens.

A feature of the dinner was a talk by Irwen Leviston 'B2, who presented an interesting account of the Dartmouth of his time. Mr. Levistorii who has been particularly active in the formation of alumni associations in the West, came to the meeting at considerable personal sacrifice because of the precarious condition of his health.

Those in attendance at the dinner were Wendell R. Barney '29, Thomas C. Colt '26, Paul S. Gibson '15, Charles H. R. Howe '01, Charles R. Jacobs '30, Roger D. Johnson '25, Irwen Leviston '82, Fred M. Richie '16, Arthur L. Stebbins '28, Douglas Van der Hoof '01, Harlan Wood '06, Charles G. Milham '06, and Frank C. Johnson '97, a guest from Ayer, Mass.
