Reversing his stand on participation in national politics, at the request of various friends anxious to increase the Liberal element at the Republican National Convention, President Hopkins early in November announced his intention to enter as a candidate in the presidential primary next spring for delegate-at-large unpledged to the Republican National Convention. President Hopkins' candidacy was announced from Concord by James M. Langley '18, editor of The Concord Monitor, who published a list of other candidates including Governor Bridges, ex-officio trustee of the College, ex-Governor Huntley N. Spaulding who received the honory degree of Master of Arts from Dartmouth in 1927, ex-Senator George H. Moses '90, National Committeeman Robert P. Burroughs '21, Professor James P. Richardson '99, John R. McLane '07, and Harold K. Davison '15.
