Thank you for your letter of the sth inst.I am taking this opportunity to answer, asit is the only item of news that has beenreceived, and furthermore saves the 1912treasury three cents in postage.
Am sorry that your "well" of news hasdried up too, and that I can't send yousome to use. We haven't been gathering asmuch around New York as you have at theParker House in Boston. Queechie Frenchwas in not so long ago for his annual visit, and he confirmed what Ray Cabot toldyou that you were all looking forward tomore of the boys turning out for theWednesday gatherings.
Had a nice evening with Dick Remsen,Wally Jones, and Randy Burns recently.Dick is the Eastern head of the AlumniSelective Committee for entrance to Dartmouth and is doing a fine job. His termon the Alumni Council expires this year. Both Randy and Wally are quite fat andimposing. Incidentally, Dick will be in themoney as soon as he receives a check I owehim as a result of some bad bidding. Makehim turn it over to you for the Fund.
Art French was down from Holyoke onan insurance expeditio?i, which we understand was very successful. Art certainlyknows his business and gives plenty ofservice with every policy.
The annual Dartmouth banquet will beheld here next month, and we usuallyhave almost the winning largest percentage of attendance, so hope at that time toget a lot of news. If you say the word wemight be able to gather in some Fundmoney at that time. How about your making a trip to New York for that particularoccasion? I should think you could pick upquite a bit of financial learning from someof our Tammany Hall past-masters. Justimagine—if you could install our NewYork snow removal system for just one dayon one block of Main St. in Dedham. England and France aren't such bad places tospend the rest of your days, and JimmieWalker would be glad to see you.
Had hopes to get up to DartmouthAlumni Carnival and may get there yet,but it looks impossible right at this time.It must be beautiful in Hanover right now,and I don't know anything I would ratherdo than spend a few days there.
Best of good hick on the Alumni Fund,Sincerely yours,
