ROLLINS CHAPEL was built in 1884-85 at a cost of $32,000, entirely defrayed by the donor, Edward A. Rollins of the class of 1851. Although there was some talk at the time of using white marble from Governor Proctor's quarries at Rutland, the decision was in favor of pink granite from Lebanon. The chapel, Romanesque in general style, has few supporters of its architectural attractiveness or harmony with the best of Dartmouth architecture, such as Dartmouth Row, the Baker Library group, or Tuck School. Without this explanation of Mr. Boris' subject for the cover this month, alumni might not recognize the scene as the south door of Rollins Chapel.

Dartmouth men are particularly invited by the editors of the MAGAZINE to submit photographs for possible use as cover illustrations. Pictures should feature scenes of general Dartmouth interest but do not need to be confined to Hanover subjects.
