Dartmouth opens its 64th baseball season this month with a six-game jaunt to Washington and Virginia. Although preseason training has been confined to the indoor cage, the Green nine this year already shapes up as a brilliant fielding club, with quite a bit of power at bat. Pitching will be Jeff Tesreau's gravest problem, with no real veteran to rely on. Ted Olson, Chuck Barnish, Joe Jayne, Bob Roundey, Norm Aikin and Ted Bruce make up the Indian hurling corps, with Olson showing most promise.

Missing from the scene this year are such diamond stars as Bob Miller, pitcher; Frankie Spain, Buster Snow and Rollie Morton, infielders; Jake Edwards and Smitty O'Brien, outfielders; and Bob Bennett, catcher. The lettermen on hand include Captain Bill Clark, catcher; Phil Conathan, first base; Junie Allen, second base; Bill Pounder, shortstop; Phil Clark and Bill Hart, outfielders; and Jack Hill, pitcher and outfielder.

Jeff Tesreau's first team at this writing is made up of Conathan, first base; Allen, second base; Ray Ratajczak, last year's freshman captain, shortstop; Mutt Ray, third base; Phil Clark, Bill Hart and Eddie Casey, outfielders; and Bill Clark, catcher.

The southern trip is being made in student cars and is being financed through guarantees and a contribution of about $l5 by each man in the party.
