The award of graduate fellowships to five members of the senior class was announced by President Hopkins on March 15. The Henry Elijah Parker Fellowship has been granted to Charles N. Lafazanos '35, of Lowell, Mass.; the Richard Crawford Campbell Jr., Fellowship to Theodore M. Steele '35, of Springfield, Mass.; the Charles O. Miller Jr., Memorial Fellowship to Cloise A. Crane '35, of Washington, D. C.; the James B. Richardson Fellowship to Philip N. Guyol '35, of Concord, N. H.; and the Fred DeMerritte Barker Fellowship to Charles W. Heckel '35, of Bloomfield, N. J. Each fellowship carries a stipend of $900 for the coming academic year.

Lafazanos will study Byzantine civilization at the University of Athens, Greece; Steele will study philosophy at Oxford; Crane will continue his French studies at the Sorbonne in Paris; Guyol will carry on his work in history at the University of Chicago; and Heckel will also do graduate work in history at Columbia University.

The Henry Elijah Parker Fellowship is based upon a fund given by bequest of Prof. Henry Elijah Parker, who was professor of Latin at Dartmouth from 1866 to 1896; the Richard Crawford Campbell Jr., Fellowship upon a fund given by Richard C. Campbell '86 and Mrs. Campbell, of Denver, as a memorial to their son, Richard Crawford Campbell Jr. '21; the Charles O. Miller Jr., Fellowship upon a fund given by Mrs. Mary Elizabeth White Miller, of Stamford, Conn., in memory of her husband, Charles O. Miller Jr. '90; the James B. Richardson Fellowship upon funds given by James B. Richardson '57, trustee of the College from 1891 to 1903, and Miss Catherine Richardson of Orford, N. H.; and the Fred DeMerritte Fellowship upon a fund given by Augustine V. Barker '72 in memory of his son, Lieutenant Fred DeMerritte Barker, A. R. C.
