Pat Kaney's gym team engaged in two contests during the first half of March, losing to Army, 39-15, at West Point on March 9 and winning over M. I. T., 38-16, at Hanover on March 16. In defeating the Indians, the Army gymnasts took first and second in every event except the tumbling and rope climb, and ran their streak of consecutive victories to 24. Dick Morton won the tumbling for Dartmouth and Herm Dock took the climb in the fast time of 4.7 seconds. Irv Sager took two thirds in the rope climb and horizontal bar, and other thirds went to Jack Steffens in the parallel bars, Art Funk in the flying rings, and Frank Moister in the tumbling.
In the M. I. T. meet, Irv Sager led the Green gymnasts with a first in the high bar and second in the rope climb. Other Dartmouth men to win events were Dave Scherman in the side-horse, Jack Steffens in the parallel bars, and Herm Dock in the rope climb. Seconds went to Al Meyers in the high bar, Dave Hermann in the side-horse, and Dick Morton in the tumbling.
The gym team will close its season with dual meets at Temple and Navy.
