A second defeat at the hands of Harvard and an exchange of victories with Princeton left the Indians and Tigers tied for third (or fourth and last) place in the final Quadrangular Hockey League standings. A play-off between Yale and Harvard transferred the Hobey Baker trophy from Hanover to New Haven for the present season.

In the Boston Garden on February 22, Dartmouth lost to Harvard, 9-3, in a onesided but hard-fought game. The Indians scored first when Junie Allen poked in a rebound at 2:15, but the Crimson's famous "H" line went to work to net a quartet of goals and give the home team a 4-1 lead at the end of the first period. Guibord tallied for Dartmouth midway through the second period, and after a pair of Harvard goals early in the third session, Jay Wolff added the Green's third tally. Play was much closer than the score indicates, with three Harvard lines eventually wearing down Dartmouth's two. The Green second line of Fitzpatrick, Riley and Adams functioned much better than it was expected to.

FIRST LEAGUE VICTORY

The first clash with Princeton, at Han- over on March a, resulted in Dartmouth's only league victory of the season by a 5-4 score. Trailing twice during the contest, the Indians made up both deficits and finally went ahead to win. Coach Herb Gill experimented with three forward lines and each came through with at least one score. Princeton scored first in the opening minute of play, but Devlin counted on a pass from Guibord to tie the score. The first line also scored Dartmouth's second goal in the middle period when Guibord passed this time to Wolff. Riley and Barrett scored for the third and second lines, respectively, and Captain Guibord clinched matters with an unassisted goal in the final session. Two assists and a goal gave the Green star the leadership in league scoring for the time being. Dartmouth's play was rugged throughout the game, with Butler and Otis playing excellent defensive hockey.

Princeton got its revenge on its home rink the following Saturday night, downing the Green six by a 7-3 score. Led by Captain Savage, the Tigers scored four goals in the opening period and held the upper hand throughout the contest. Dartmouth did not tally until the second period, when Devlin netted the puck after an assist by Guibord. Princeton retaliated with two more goals, and Harris replaced Pounder in the Green nets. Devlin and Guibord teamed up for another Green score, and the period ended with Princeton holding a, 6-2 lead. Riley scored on a pass from Devlin at 9:20 in the final session, and Savage's shot at 11:27 closed the scoring for the evening. Two assists gave Captain Guibord a total of 10 points in league scoring and a tie with Hallowell of Harvard for first honors.

Guibord was reelected captain of the varsity hockey team at the close of the season, and letters were awarded by the Athletic Council to the following: Frank O. Adams '35, Arlington, Mass.; Samuel W.
