When asked the single most important reason that the Big Green posted a 5-0-1 season and took the Ivy League championship, Coach Mary Twyman replied, "My sixteenth player was as strong as my first."

That depth was acknowledged off the field when the postseason honors were awarded: Ann Rosamond '91 was named Ivy Rookie of the Year. Captain Kate Perle '88, who led Dartmouth with ten goals and three assists, was named Conference Player of the Year, and five Dartmouth players, more than in any other school, garnered All-Ivy honors. With the loss of only four seniors to graduation and a host of talented young players eager to fill the void, observers say Twyman's 1988 squad should remain the team to beat in the Ivy League.

The Right Stuff: Anne Rosmond (with ball) and Kate Perle display some of the teamwork that brought the field hockey team the Ivy title.
