"Wild Indian whoops resounded through the hinterlands yesterday afternoon (August 27) as the Worcester Dartmouth Club cavorted at an outing and clambake at the Tatnuck Island Club, accessible only by a tortuous trail through a primeval forest and ferryboat passage across Cooke's Pond via pulleyline.

"A Softball game was abruptly called to a halt in the second inning when Andrew J. Howarth, class of '23, playing left field, chased Howard W. Cowee's high fly and got lost in the woods. Hastily organized searching parties were formed and the bewildered left fielder was finally found wandering in a half wild condition after he had lofted smoke signals skyward in true Indian style.

"Consternation spread through the ranks when it was rumored that a Yale 'spy' was somewhere about the premises disguised in a green sweater. An investigation revealed it was only Jack McAuliffe rehearsing football scouting tactics.

"After some quoit pitching which ended with Dr. Gordon N. Cobb challenging everybody within hearing distance, a shore dinner was served consisting of clams, lobsters, sausages, corn, chicken in the order named and then all over again backwards.

"No one spoke but the general topic of conversation revolved on the walloping Dartmouth gave Yale on the gridiron last year which was greatly enjoyed with the clams, lobsters, sausages, corn, chicken in that order named and then backwards.

"Sherman Baldwin, president, and Royal I. Blanchard, secretary, were the head chiefs in charge of the pow-wow."
