Among recent gifts to the College, a check for $2100 has been received from the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Philadelphia, for the establishment of a student loan fund. In starting its fund, the Philadelphia Association gave complete administration of the sum to the College, but requested that Philadelphia students be given some preference in loans.
Also into possession of the College have recently come a remarkably complete class book compiled by the late Henry P. Saunderson '73 of Manchester, N. H„ and a Doctor of Laws hood which was awarded 35 years ago to Professor Emeritus James F. Colby. The class book was given to the College by the Honorable Albert O. Brown '7B, former trustee, while the hood was received from Professor Colby himself.
William Chauncy Langdon, historical librarian of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company and a direct descendant of Eleazar Wheelock, has sent the College a handsomely bound volume containing the history, photographs, and presentation documents concerning the study chair of Eleazar Wheelock which he gave to Dartmouth last June. The chair is to be used only by the President of the College upon ceremonial occasions.
