Six '08ers have sons in the freshman class this year. They are Dr. Francis Blake, John B. Glaze, Arthur D. O'Shea, S. S. Rutherford, Harold H. Snow, and George E. Squier. The class now has enough of the second generation in college to organize a football team, with a few substitutes.

John Detlefsen '37, son of Jack 'OB, was awarded a scholarship this fall for excellence in physical, moral, and scholastic accomplishments. It carries $500, which is some reward for being husky, pious, and studious.

Among classmates who attended the Norwich football game September 26 were Safford, Squier, Soule, Rotch, Hinman, and Stone.

String Hale, now a veteran in the N. H. Forestry Department, has been traveling about the state addressing Garden Clubs and other organizations on the forestry work in his state.

John McLane Clark, son of John A. Clark 'OB, was married October 3 in Milford, N. H., to Miss Rhoda Warren Shaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Winfield L. Shaw of Manchester. Wedding guests were entertained at the home of John R. McLane '07, in Manchester. Mr. McLane is an uncle of the bridegroom. Mr. Clark, who graduated at Dartmouth in 1932, is now on the staff of the Washington Post. His mother was Miss Hazel McLane, and the October wedding was in the same church where Jack Clark and Miss McLane were married in 1909.

Harold Cogswell is now working for the Electro-Motive Corporation in LaGrange, Ill., and is living at 311 S. Oak Park Ave., in Oak Park, Ill.

Ralph Pease is now located at 665 Boylston St., Boston, and living in West Medway, Mass. He describes himself as a salesman.

L. M. Howe reports a new address, 26 Cedar St., Wakefield, Mass. And Laurence H. Crafts is now living at 89 Woburn St. in Reading, Mass.

Arthur D. MacMillan is assistant to the president at the Connecticut Junior College at Bridgeport, and makes his home at 63 Yale St. in Bridgeport.

Frank Cook is trainmaster on the Northern Pacific Railway, and his new address is 715 F St., Auburn, Wash.

Russell B. Wright, who is claimed by both '07 and '08, is the New England manager of the Glenwood Range Company and has an office on Stuart St. in Boston. Russ lives in Brookline, and has developed into a tennis player since he joined the Longwood Club and goes seriously for the game. He and his family spent most of the summer at their summer home in Westford, Mass. His neighbors say it takes six vigorous sets to make him admit he is getting older.

Art Lewis and son spent much of the past summer in Europe. They are as much interested as ever in fine horses.

Johnny Merrill, the rugged son of '08's Dick Merrill, is regularly holding down the left end position in the starting team at Dartmouth. He has roomed with Kendall Stearns, son of '08 Mike Stearns, all through college. Young Stearns at last reports was planning a medical course.

Art O'Shea has been pictured in the newspapers this summer in connection with his civic work in Laconia, N. H. Chamber of Commerce or something. Also he has made the illustrations on the sporting page—golf.

R. P. Currier is operating a large dairy farm in Amherst, N. H. His oldest son has resigned from the Navy and is in technical work.

Art Lewis and son Jack returned the first of September from England and Ireland, where they spent the summer following the races and getting acquainted with the horses. They came back on the QiueenMary on the voyage when the Cunard boat set a new record. The Lewises are as much interested as ever in breeding fine horses. Jack is a freshman at Harvard this fall, interest in riding and polo having overcome the natural trend toward Hanover.

The 'OB Alumni Fund record this year was better. There was a small increase in number of contributors, to 59%. Increase in total amount contributed was 48%, with gifts aggregating $169.50. The class stands in 13th place among alumni classes in the 1936 Fund tabulation.

Joe Donahue, Percy Gleason, Jack Corcoran, and George Squier accepted Art Lewis's invitation to spend a week-end at his summer home in Dennis, on Cape Cod. They picked the week-end when a hurricane blew most everything on the Cape to pieces. A convenient hurricane is a fine excuse for getting back from a week-end in rather battered condition. Or isn't it?

Malcolm Stearns' second son is one of the high ranking men, scholastically, at Amherst. He is on the Dean's list in the '39 class. Larry Symmes' daughter is also on the Dean's list at Vassar, class of '37. Larry's younger daughter is a freshman at Vassar. We've looked up this Dean's list stuff, and find it means they're good, not bad. Larry and his wife were among those who attended the Holy Cross game at Hanover.

Bob (Richardson Hall) Rugg, who used to tinkle the mandolin and now tinkles the dollars as president of the National Rockland Bank in Boston, was elected in October as a trustee of Boston University.

Harold M. Rugg '018, who received an honorary degree from Dartmouth in June, 1935, is one of a committee of 500 named to further the candidacy of Norman Thomas, Socialist candidate for President. Dr. Rugg was among the twenty prominent members of the committee whose names were featured in Washington dispatches.

Quite a few of the boys have been peerading \about the country as the following, courtesy of the Dartmouth College Alumni Office, Hanover, will testify: Arthur M. MacMillan is now assistant to the president of the Junior College of Connecticut located in Bridgeport, and his address is No. 63 Yale St., that city. Luther M. Howe is now residing at No. 26 Cedar St., Wakefield, Mass. Laurence H. Crafts has a new residential address, which is No. 89 Woburn St., Reading, Mass. Ralph S. Pease may now be addressed at No. 665 Boylston St., Boston, for business or West Medway, Mass., for residential purposes. He lists his occupation as that of salesman. Frank G. Cook is a trainmaster at Auburn, Wash., with residential headquarters No. 715 F St., South Auburn, and business offices with the Northern Pacific Railway, Auburn. Harold B. Cogswell, who is with the Electro-Motive Corp., LaGrange, Ill., lives at No. 311 South Oak Park Ave., Oak Park, Ill. He is a mechanical engineer.
