TRUSTEES HOLD FALL MEETING; STEPS TAKEN TO IMPROVE INN;12 SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED; COLLEGE DIRECTS AEGIS

The Board of Trustees of the College gathered in Parkhurst Hall on October 15 for its annual fall meeting, taking up financial matters for the current academic year, approving recent appointments to the faculty, and hearing reports from its several standing committees. Presentation by Halsey C. Edgerton '06, treasurer of the College, of the financial report for 1936-37 and of the budget for the current year was the major item on the fall docket.

The trustees accepted the resignations of Harry R. Heneage '07 as Supervisor of Athletics and of Richard M. Perdew as Instructor in Economics, in each case with an expression of appreciation for the service rendered to the College. The Board also ratified the appointments of George F. Theriault '33 as instructor in Sociology, of Charles A. Wright as instructor in Economics, of Dr. Nathan T. Milliken as instructor in Physical Diagnosis in the Medical School, of Dr. Herman M. Burian as Visiting Research Fellow in Physiological Optics in the Medical School, of Edward T. Chamberlain '36 as assistant to the Dean of Freshmen, and of John H. Feth '34 as assistant to the general manager of the Dartmouth Outing Club. Leave of absence was voted to George W. Woodworth, Assistant Professor of Banking in the Tuck School, for the first semester of the current year.

THREE COMMITTEES NAMED

Appointment of the standing committees of the trustees for the academic year 1936-37 was announced by President Hopkins as follows:

Executive Committee—Lewis Parkhurst '78, chairman; President Hopkins, William R. Gray '04, and Edward S. French '06.

Committee on Degrees—Philip S. Marden '94, chairman; President Hopkins, John R. McLane '07, Victor M. Cutter '03, and Dr. Arthur H Ruggles '02.

Committee on Investments—John R. McLane '07, chairman; President Hopkins, Clarence B. Little '81, William W. Grant Jr. '03, Victor M. Cutter '03, and Edward S. French '06.

The Board voted to discontinue the Committee on Physical Development and Maintenance of the Plant and to transfer the duties of that committee to the Executive Committee.

Gifts accepted by the trustees included the sum of $1200 from the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Chicago to be added to the funds for the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Chicago Scholarship; two glass decanters belonging to Daniel Webster, presented to the College by Carl H. Richardson '96 of Boston; and a herbarium belonging to Bertrand T. Wheeler '84, presented to the College by his son, Bertrand C. Wheeler '11 of Chicago.

All ten members of the Board of Trustees were present at the fall meeting.
