THE FARTHEST North Club here in Alaska gained two new members in 1935.
Cal White '33 free lanced for the United Press this summer from Nome down through the interior of Alaska to Juneau. While he was making up his mind whether or not to take the boat back to the outside he got a job as reporter on Governor Troy's Daily Alaska Empire and he is still therebroadcasting daily news bulletins over Station KINY at Juneau in addition to his news gathering.
John Davidson '32 is also located in Juneau now. He found his way in from the outside late this summer and hasn't quite made up his mind to leave yet. A lot of Alaskans came in many years ago just to look around and "haven't quite made up their minds to leave yet."
George Marchand '05, our President, still continues to see that Uncle Sam's mail reaches every far-flung settlement, and his job gets no easier as business continues to grow from year to year.
Larry Worth '29 is spending his second winter here, after putting in a season in his profession as mining engineer with' the U. S. Smelting's big placer mining operation at Ester Creek, just outside Fairbanks.
Jack Alexander '30 was on the same job but is blowing his summer's earnings on a trip outside.
The Sec. continues his job with Pacific Alaska Airways in Fairbanks and hopes for a few names in the Club's guest register during 1936.
