Prexy Phelan, using his best jury-winning technique, sold me the idea that I should write the Class Notes this year. It was against my better judgment, since I know from experience what untold hours and energy are required to collect and write up the items which you read here. Roy Milliken certainly deserves a rousing vote of thanks from the class for his untiring efforts over the past nine years.

Plans for the TENTH REUNION are well under way. At a meeting of Jack Phelan, Roy Milliken, and your scribe in New York in August the machinery was set up, and is already functioning. Letters appointing keymen in various strategic localities will soon be in the mail. When this group of exhorters begins to function, you will be belabored with pleas for your attendance at the June Fish-Fry. "TWENTY-EIGHT UP" will soon echo from coast to coast.

Prexy Phelan has appointed the following committees: Publicity and Attendance Committee—Jack Phelan, chairman, Roy Milliken, Os Skinner; Hanover Reservations and Entertainment CommitteeLanky Langdell, chairman, Bill Kimball, Ken Graf; Budget Committee—Jack Mc-Laughlin, chairman, Larry Martin, Don Norris, Jack Phelan, John Nixon; Costume Committee-John Phillips. Additional appointments to these groups will be announced later.

Of all years, you can't afford to miss the ALUMNI MAGAZINE the year of your Big Tenth. Most of the reunion data will be published in the class notes column, featuring those who have signed up. Send your check for $2.50 to the business manager today.

Dan Hatch has resigned as manager of the Outing Club and last month started to work for the Travelers Insurance Cos. in Boston. You did a wonderful job in building up the D.0.C., Dan, and we all wish you every success in your new field.

One of Dan's last acts, of far-reaching importance to the D.0.C., was the appointment of Ross McKenney, famous Maine guide, as a full-time advisor in all outdoor activities except skiing. He will be available to undergraduates and alumni who are interested in taking fishing, hunting, or canoe-camping trips. We're proud of Dan for his foresight in making Dartmouth the first college to have its own guide. Ross is going to build a cabin near the ski tow in Hanover with funds which have been contributed by Dick Lougee '27, Rudy Preuss '27, Os Skinner '2B, Larry Lougee '29, Nelse Rockefeller '3O, and the Outing Club.

With sorrow we record the death on August 24 of Jack McLaughlin's only son, who was killed by an automobile in Philadelphia.

This marriage bug has finally caught up with Dave Foster. Apparently neither he nor Florence Jean Holliday are superstitious, because they were married on Friday, August 13, at Red Wing, Minn. They are living at 1406 Budlong Ave., Gardena, Calif.

Gordon Simons has a son and namesake, born June 25 in New York. Henry Williams also became a proud father at about the same time, but my memory fails me when I try to recall additional details, and Heinie is away on his vacation. Both fathers are assistant managers of the Waldorf-Astoria, and in a position to help any visiting '2Bers who can afford to stop at their hotel.

Harry Harwood is now with J. G. Heggie & Cos., in Joliet, 111 Si Gedge has deserted Indianapolis to move to 302 W. Park Ave., Joliet, 111., which is near his job at the Collins St. plant of the Steel & Wire Cos.; Si has our vote for the most interesting job of the month, for he lists his occupation as "flying shearman." .... Y Wes Smith cast anchor in August at 810 First St., Ocean City, N. J., where he is a real estate salesman We have many physicians in our class of 658 members, but only one dentist. He is Frost Wilkinson, Harvard Dental School '3l, who is practicing at 220 West 139 St., New York City.

Bill Haley has turned his back on Quincy, Mass., after nine years in the retailing business there, to take a position as manager of the Reid & Hughes Cos. store in Norwich, Conn Adman Paul Kruming is at present in Rio de Janeiro, and is expected back from his South American junket on November 16 Ted Granville-Smith has just been appointed assistant buyer of men's furnishings at McCreery's department store in New York City. .... Anyone willing to sell a '2B Aegis please write to your scribe.

Aged gaffer that we are, we still try to propel our wheelchair around as much as possible. As soon as the Alumni Fund campaign was over, we got away from it all by going to Europe. Since time was at a premium, we (purely an editorial "we") spent two days in London and then flew to Copenhagen, a hour flight over Holland and Germany. Denmark is as delightful a country for a vacation as one can find, and it was hard to leave at the end of a week to catch a ship at Rotterdam for New York.

While meeting some friends coming in New York on the SS. Statendam September 4, we stumbled on Les Mason and wife, returning from an all-summer tour of nine European countries. Les and Harriette were married two years ago, but the event was not brought to the attention of the class chroniclers. Les teaches history at the Herkimer, N. Y., High School.

We have written to three classmates in the Chinese war area, asking how it is affecting them, but as we go to press (Sept. 10) no replies have been received. George Bell is with the Standard-Vacuum Oil Cos. in Tsinanfu, China, Ming Chuan Sun is in Shanghai, and Hsi-Jui Shen is in the accounts Office of the Tiestsin-Pukow Railway at Pukow.

Curley Sadler's wife Laura presented him with a baby boy August 12; what did you name it, Curley? .... Wendell Mc-Eachran was weaned away from Bordens on July 1 by Foremost Dairies, Inc., Brooklyn, N. Y Rocky Philbrick has moved his wife and three children to Needham, Mass., a town already notable for prominent people like the Phelans and the Jim Newtons, who live there Paul Maclean has turned his back on his native Helena, Montana, and moved to Chicago, where his address is 1430 E. Hyde Park Boulevard Lanky Langdell defended the Republican representative from New Hamphire, whose seat was contested by a Democrat at a Congressional hearing in Washington There is cause for rejoicing that for the third consecutive year '2B led all classes since 'O4 in the percentage of contributors to the Alumni Fund. We were 11th along all classes, with 99.7% contributing.
