I Your Secretary presents his apologies for not having any notes in the November issue. A grippe bug put him to bed for a few days—just the days when the matter for the MAGAZINE should have been sent inand separated him from his notes and letters.

September brought another good letter from Put, in which he expressed his thanks for the Reunion picture and notes. He was particularly interested in comparing the '37 picture with the senior picture taken in front of the chapel, which he has cherished all these years.

November 2 Salinger underwent an abdominal operation at the Deaconess Hospital in Boston. It was not as serious as it might have been—everything worked smoothly—and he is recovering as rapidly as could be expected. By the time you read this, he will probably be back at his home in NewtonviUe.
