As these notes are sent in comes word of the death of classmate Bartlett on February 1; no particulars. Sam overtaxed his heart last fall, and for a time was in the hospital. He had been anticipating the reunion in June, and we looked forward to hearing from his lips the story of Japan. He was last with us ten years ago. [See notice in Necrology.—ED.]
Miss Mary Harriett Head, of Hooksett, N. H., Head's daughter, has been appointed director of the women's and professional projects of WPA for New Hampshire. Miss Head, Smith College 1912, holds a degree of A.M. from Northwestern University, taught for a time at Smith, during the World War was pathologist with the U. S. A. Medical Corps, and has been long prominent as a social worker.
Mrs. Elaine Goodale Eastman, Dr. Eastman's wife, won the fifty-dollar prize offered by the Order of Bookfellows for her poem, "The Wayfarers." It was published in the monthly magazine, The StepLadder Knight was scheduled for Florida in February, with a few days at Mt. Dora and Lakeside Inn, Bill Went- worth host; Johnson also in same town. .... Hardy's present address is given as Tujunga, Calif Dr. Eastman's son Ohiyesa was married last August to Marion Keifer. They reside at 12605 Sloepal Ave., Detroit, Mich., and Eastman is with them much of the time. Of his six children four are living, and there are five living grandchildren Junkins celebrated his seventieth birth-anniversary in January at his home in Hanover. Friends were present, and there were appropriate ceremonies with all the fixin's. He adds: "And I gotto bed after midnight, rather tired butmuch pleased." Earlier in the month he attended the annual C. and G. dinner in Boston, also later the alumni dinner.
