There is an old saying: no news is good news. I hope this is the case for most of you. Lengthy letters from three classmates salvaged this month's report.

Peter Holden, in his proper Victorian style, writes that he is working in Indianapolis as a salesman for Bostitch Stapling Co. It is relieving to hear that graduation has not changed Pete's Puritan moral fiber and his propensity for moderation. Marty "Clambo" Mehlberth called in to say that he had seen Peter recently. Apparently Marty drove from Dayton, where he is working as an assistant marketing representative for IBM, to Indianapolis to give Pete some furniture - Pete has an apartment that has one piece of furniture, a mattress. Clambo arrived at the agreed upon time to find that Pete was in Cincinnati visiting Don Casey and Mike Draznik. Outside of playing United Van Lines, Clambo loves his job and has already been promoted.

Peter informs us that Ed Sauer has been in Marathon Key, Fla., since September as a pool manager. Mike Wargo is apparently still working in Cleveland with his mother at a place called Taffy's. This particular establishment specializes in girl's leotards and gym outfits.

The grapevine has it that Rick Klupchack is in Chicago, working with the LaSalle Bank. Klupper bummed around all summer with MikeCostello, who, by the way, is getting married to a home town honey this spring. Dana "TheHulk" Martino is working construction in New York, and Timmy Anderson is working out of Pittsburgh as a brakeman for the Penn Central Railroad. Considering the financial status of the Penn Central, Timmy's job may not be brimming with opportunities.

Neil Smith also checked in from the Midwest where he is living in "Daleyville" with BruceWilliamson. Neil is taking graduate courses at the University of Chicago in addition to working part-time. He plans to stay in school for a few years, and consequently have such options as continuing on into medical school, teaching, and travelling. Neil says that roommate Willie has already received ink in the ChicagoMaroon's rugby writeup. They penned him "Golden Boy," saying that "he looks and runs like Paul Hornung near the goal line." After watching the Chicago Bears' dismal seasons, I guess even Willie looks good. Neil met up with Willie Deevey, who is teaching French and coaching baseball at Loyola Academy (Wilmette), his old alma mater.

Two entries on the society page. January 18 found UVa. law student Booker Andrews marrying Elizabeth Anderson, Holyoke '74. The ceremony took place in Hampton, Va., with Jay Conger performing the best man duties. Richard Quittmeyer's engagement to former Smithie Denise Packer made The New YorkTimes. Richard is a Ph.D. candidate in geology at Columbia and will forego bachelordom August 16 in Livingston, N.J.

Through a chance meeting with this writer at Hal's, Columbia Law student Jim Miller was prodded over a Special to send along an epistle on the activities of many classmates. DickEllsworth has successfully defended himself twice before the law, not the professor type, and has since promoted silver glove fights in Dubuque and made it to both Viking playoff games. Tom Csatari was up in Hanover after completing exams at Vanderbilt Law School to see his fiance, Judy Burrows '76. Fritz Ledbetter is at the University of New Mexico, and allegedly getting awfully serious with a former Miss Anchorage. Steve Allison has returned to Hanover several times this year, and has begun working for Aetna Life Insurance Co. in Hartford. Rick Thirlby reports from University of Michigan Medical School that he has not yet found a way to downhill on the side of a test tube.

Still no news on the Class Baby. If anyone hears of a legitimate contender send a postcard this way with the lucky couple's name and address. That's it for another month.
