AT ITS ANNUAL fall meeting, held in Parkhurst Hall on October 26-27, the Board of Trustees of the College awarded the Bachelor's degree to nine men. The degree, as with the Class of 1937, was granted to John Keyser Knorr 3d, of Wayne, Pa. The degree, as with the Class of 1938, was voted to Robert Palmer Hallock Jr., of Worcester, Mass.; Richard Turnbull Holt of West Hartford, Conn.; John Butler Jameson Jr., of Concord, N. H.; Walter Meschersky of Perth Amboy, N. J.; Thomas Henry Rowland Jr., of Camden, N. J.; Arthur Russell Stone of Sharon, Mass.; and Robert Dinsmore Tomlinson of Bridgeport, Conn.
As other routine business at its fall meeting the Board heard last year's financial report, approved the 1938-39 budget, accepted two faculty resignations, and voted leaves of absence to two faculty members. The resignations accepted were those of Fredrick C. Kruger as instructor in Geology and Robert F. Bigley as instructor in Physical Education. Prof. Harold J. Tobin of the Political Science department was granted leave of absence during the second semester of 1938-39, and the leave of Prof. Albert L. Demaree of the History department, effective this semester, was extended to include the second semester also.
Appointment of the standing committees of the Trustees for the current year were announced by President Hopkins as follows:
Executive Committee—Lewis Parkhurst '78, chairman; President Hopkins, Edward S. French '06, and John F. Gile '16.
Committee on Degrees—Philip S. Marden '94, chairman; President Hopkins, John R. McLane '07, Victor M. Cutter '03, and Dr. Arthur H. Ruggles '02.
Committee on Investments—John R. McLane '07, chairman; President Hopkins, Clarence B. Little '81, William W. Grant Jr., '03, Victor M. Cutter 'O3, Edward S. French '06, and William J. Minsch '07.
