AFTER MANY promises and several threats, the Dartmouth Club of Central Pennsylvania makes its first contribution to the ALUMNI MAGAZINE in many moons. Although the club has been active with get-to-gethers at frequent intervals, your correspondent, having been broken in on the spur of the moment to fill the unexpired term of George Scott '29, had to learn this secretarial business from the ground up so that the courage to put the information in print was slow in developing.
Our Dartmouth Night party was a great and enjoyable success. Thirty loyal sons met in the home of Frank Eastman 06, 2247 North Front Street, Harrisburg, Pa., with a number of guests and several prospective students. Frank's home affords ideal accommodations for our parties, having a large game room containing a shooting gallery, billiard table and practically every other gadget for our entertainment. The room was officially designated as our club room when John Wadham '03, our President, presented to Frank a large photograph of the Campus showing the Old Church and Senior Fence. George Foss '97, our oldest living grad but youngest in spirit, was the last to leave as usual. Bill Page '06, our vice president, served as chief projectionist in the showing of the "Movies of the 1937 Football Season." He did a fine job. Sid Milnor '25, deserves special notice for having traveled almost a hundred miles from his home in Williamsport to be with us. Bill Bowman '32, and Sam Cunningham '33, traveled from Lewistown, a distance of 65 miles and brought a guest with them. Horace Hoch '29, a former Secretary of our club, came from York. Shepard Naylor '22, put in a long delayed appearance from Lancaster and George Ellsworth '32, came from his home in Carlisle.
Judging by the return cards received, the fact that Dartmouth night came on a weekday night kept at least another dozen men from attending because of the nature of their work. However, they sent in their best wishes with their regrets. After a typical bull session and more refreshments than we could eat or drink, the party broke up with the evident effect that the Dartmouth Club of Central Pennsylvania is growing fast in numbers and enthusiasm.
