November 1939

DARTMOUTH NIGHT this year will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 15, it has been announced by Palaeopitus, following a conference with President Hopkins. In accordance with tradition, the Hanover celebration held in Webster Hall on that evening will serve as the hub of similar celebrations by alumni groups throughout the country and in foreign lands.

Although Dartmouth Night has been held in the early spring in recent years, it has been felt that a mid-fall date would be preferable for both alumni and undergraduates. This feeling was expressed to Palaeopitus in behalf of the alumni. by Warren C. Kendall '99, president of the

Alumni Council, following a discussion of Dartmouth Night at the Council meeting in Hanover last June. Dartmouth Night this year will fall in the middle of the week between the Princeton game at Princeton and the Cornell game at Hanover.

President Hopkins will preside at the Hanover gathering, and Dean Emeritus Laycock will again read the telegraphic greetings from alumni groups. Alumni speakers will be Walter Powers 'O6, president of the Boston Alumni Association, and Robert M. Davis 'O3, formerly with the American Library in Paris and now teaching at Middlebury College. Robert A. Hale '4O of Washington, D. C., is in charge of the program for Palaeopitus.
