December 1939

THE FIFTH EDITION of the pictorial calendar Dartmouth in Portrait will appear this month under the auspices of Dartmouth College Publications. As in past editions the 1940 calendar will present twelve striking new views of Dartmouth, each seasonally appropriate to the month which it illustrates. For a frontispiece the calendar will have a photograph of an outstanding Dartmouth personality. The photographs this year will be a combination of views and of campus activities. New pictures of Thayer School and Thayer Hall will be included, and two unusual skiing shots have also been selected among the winter illustrations. In addition to the calendar for the year, Dartmouth in Portrait will contain a schedule of College events, including football and other athletic contests insofar as they are known at the present time. The calendar will have a decorative cover and a spiral binding with provision for hanging the calendar on the wall.

Undergraduate editor and manager of Dartmouth in Portrait is Lawrence A. Cate '40 of Reading, Mass., who promises that the 1940 edition will be issued in time to be used by alumni as Christmas gifts. Copies are priced at $1.00 each and may obtained by sending orders to Dartmouthin Portrait, Hanover, N. H. Ten cents should be added for boxing and mailing each copy. Every one of the four editions previously published has been exhausted before Christmas.
