MEMBERS of the newly established boards of proprietors for The Dartmouth and Jack-o-Lantern were named during the past month, with John M. Clark '32 representing the alumni on the board of the daily paper and Theodor Seuss Geisel '25 representing them on the board of the comic monthly. Both alumni members were nominated and approved by the Alumni Council.
Clark, former editor-in-chief of TheDartmouth, is now with The WashingtonPost and for the present year is studying at Harvard as one of the first recipients of the Nieman fellowships for journalists. Geisel, former editor-in-chief of Jack-o-Lantern, is known throughout the country as Dr. Seuss, the creator of comic illustrations.
Other members of the eleven-man board recommended for The Dartmouth by the Publications Arbitration Committee are Albert I. Dickerson '3O, named by President Hopkins to represent the Administration; Prof. Howard A. Bradley of the Public Speaking department, named by the Faculty Committee on Nominations; Kenneth A. MacDonalcl '39 of Quincy, Mass., named by Palaeopitus as its representative; and seven undergraduate mem- bers of the editorial and business directorates of the paper: Thomas W. Braden Jr. '4O of Dubuque, lowa, editor-in-chief; Theodore R. Gates '4O of Milwaukee, Wis., managing editor; Richard E. Glendinning Jr. '4O of Ridgefield, Conn., editorial chairman; Stephen W. Graydon '4O of New York City, technical editor; E. Robert Breech '4O of Detroit, Mich., business manager; Gerald M. Sullivan Jr. '4O of Newtonville, Mass., national advertising manager; and Robert S. Weil '4O of Montgomery, Ala., local advertising manager.
Other members of the six-man board of proprietors of Jack-o-Lanlern similarly recommended by the Arbitration Committee are Robert D. Funkhouser Jr. '27, assistant bursar, named by President Hopkins; and four undergraduate members of the editorial and business directorates: John R. Vincens '39 of Brookline, Mass., editor-in-chief; George A. Mcllroy Jr. '39 of Brooklyn, N. Y., business manager; James A. Donovan Jr. '39 of Winnetka, 111., art editor; and Roy B. White Jr. '39 of Annandale, N. J., advertising manager.
Mr. Funkhouser will also serve as business adviser to the Pictorial, following the recommendation of the Arbitration Committee.
ELEAZAR'S BIOGRAPHER Prof. James D. McCallum of the Englishdepartment, whose biography of EleazarWheelock will be brought out by Dart-mouth College Publications in the latespring. Professor McCallum will be one ofthe lecturers in the Hanover Holiday pro-gram in June, speaking on novels of reform.
