The Boston meeting of the Dartmouth Society of Engineers was held at the University Club on March 28 with 21 members and two guests present. Members attending were Sid Beane '12, Russ Rice '16, Howard Wright '20, Byron McCoy '34, Cy Sturm '34, Ike Besse '35, Ed Brown '35, Al Doolittle '36, Charley Hitchcock '39, Bob Egelhoff '39, Paul Blake '47, Ben Brewster '47, Jim Davis '48, Al Miller '48, Henry Torpey '49, Paul Bernico '51, Bill Miller '51, Jack Wheldon '51, Jim Decker '54, Prof. George Taylor, and Acting Dean Don Pyke. As guests of Ike Besse, we were pleased to have Ed Stokes D '31 and his son Parker, who hopes to enter Dartmouth next fall.
As chairman of the meeting, Henry Torpey did a splendid job in spite of his inability to refrain from certain unjustified remarks relative to the advanced age of certain faculty members present. Among the .speakers were Jim Decker, who spoke of the activities of the Student Chapters of the Engineering Societies at Thayer School; Prof. George Taylorwho described the background, philosophy, and activities of his course in Work Simplification; and Don Pyke, who brought the members up-to-date on the internal affairs of the School.
Word has been received of the recent marriage of Barbara Covar of Augusta, Georgia to Al Wright '52. Al is with DuPont at the North Augusta, S. C., plant. Announcement has also been received of the marriage of Marjorie Anne Chase to Walt Krall '54 on March 27th. Walt is part-time research assistant to Jim Browning on the Squid Research Project at Thayer School.
Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Thomas '41 announce the arrival of Marcia Bonsib on Feb. 22. A card from Roy Nevius '42 informs us that Priscilla 10 and John 6 have acquired a brand new sister, Donna Lee, on Sept. 29. Roy has recently received his New Jersey Professional Engineer's License and is employed by A. L. Hyde, Grenlock, N. J., in the field of plastic molding.
After April 1, Solvi and Koster Frosig '52 will make their home in Smakkegaarden, Gentofte, Denmark.
The many friends of Professor Eddie Sherrard will be sorry to learn that he was seriously injured in a skiing accident on April 3. At the moment Eddie is making a splendid bid for recovery at Dick's House and the most recent report on his progress was encouraging.
