Who's Who

SEVERAL omissions of alumni from the list of Dartmouth men included in Who's Who that was published in the last issue of the MAGAZINE have been called to the attention of the editors. Three members of the faculty whose names should have appeared are: Professors George D. Lord '84, John H. Gerould '90, and William F. Geiger '92. President Joseph H. Brewer '20 of Olivet College and Charles F. Palmer '18, realtor, of Atlanta, Ga., should also have been included in the

published list. Letters from readers will be welcomed indicating names of any other, alumni listed in Who's Who not included in the original summary.

SHOWN in the six panels above are mural paintings by Walter B. Humphrey '14 illustrating the three verses of Richard Hovey's Eleazar Wheelock. The chorus panel, located above the central fireplace in the Richard Hovey Grill in Thayer Hall, is not included in these reproductions but has already appeared on the cover of the October issue of the MAGAZINE.

Except for a few finishing touches to be added before Commencement, Mr. Humphrey has completed the mural project about which he thought for many years before he was commissioned to start work in the fall of 1937. The murals, painted upon canvas and not directly upon the walls, were begun in Mr. Humphrey's studio in New Rochelle, N. Y. The. artist transferred his work to the Carpenter studios in Hanover last summer, and during recent months has worked for short periods in the Richard Hovey Grill itself. The nearly completed murals were publicly displayed when the Richard Hovey Grill opened eaily in February.

The Grill, specializing in atmosphere and cooked-to-order dishes dear to the masculine heart, has been named in honor of Richard Hovey 'B5, whose 75th birthday anniversary Dartmouth men will celebrate on May 4.

Colorful and jocund, like the verses they illustrate, the Humphrey murals were consciously painted as "true Dartmouth murals" and as a foil to the famous Orozco murals in Baker Library. They have already created a new school of mural-thinkers in Hanover and among the alumni.
