THE APPOINTMENT of Richard W. Olmsted '32 of Hamden, Conn., as Assistant Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds was announced by President Hopkins in August. Mr. Olmsted began his duties as assistant to Superintendent Willard M. Gooding '11 on September 3, filling the vacancy caused by the sudden death of Mauritz Hedlund '12.
Mr. Olmsted received the degree o£ Civil Engineer from the Thayer School in 1933 and during the summer of that year was with the Highway Department of the State of New Hampshire. Since then he had been continuously associated with the Great Altantic and Pacific Tea Company, during the last two years as Assistant Warehouse Superintendent.
Mr. Olmsted was married in 1934 to Miss Helen Laycock, daughter of the late Dean Craven Laycock '96 and Mrs. Laycock. They have one son, two years of age.
