FOR THOSE NOT AWARE of it we call attention to the chairmanship of the Alumni Fund Committee as one of the most vital tasks in the College organization. And no less important in relation to the Colled welfare is the work of the executive secretary of the Fund. The third panel in th triptych crediting the results of the 1940 Alumni Fund campaign would surely con sist of the names of the class agents and assistant class agents. Between the chairn man, the secretary, and the class agent there exists a highly cooperative spirit 0 determination to make each year's cam paign successful. This spirit is reflected in the phenomenal number of more than 10; 000 gifts received from alumni in the cam paign that ended June go. The spirit and the substance are shown in the total col lections of $126,145.29 which enabled the College to avoid a deficit that would other wise be a crippling handicap to the instatution.

In expressing the appreciation of thFund Committee to the class agents Summer B. Emerson '17, chairman, wrote thein July: "In making the Fund of incalnlable value to Dartmouth you have madea source of pride to all Dartmouth metHere's to you." We have this opportunitand take it with the greatest delight to say to Sumner Emerson: "Here's to you!—forthe time, and thought and energy you hatso willingly aiid ably given the DartmouthFund during the past two years of you'chairmanship. No other college can recoiresults equal to the splendid achievemenof the Dartmouth Fund, made under yourleadership."

And pass the cup again for a toast to Al pickerson '30, whose management of the complexities of the Alumni Fund for nine successive springs has distinguished him as a most effective executive secretary of the Fund Committee, performing the exacting duties of that position, along with varied and responsible administrative work for the College.
