The youngest song writer in the country is Amber Jane Harrington, daughter of Clark Harrington. Her song, Put a Penny in the Old Man'sHat was sung by a quartette over the Columbia Broadcasting System network on the evening of August 27. Since then she has been photographed and interviewed by the press; her picture appeared in PM, the new New York City daily newspaper and she was written up in VARIETY. The St. Louis POST DISPATCH and THE NEW YORKER have just interviewed her.

In writing this song Amber Jane is simply following in the footsteps of her daddy, a number of whose songs have been published, and who wrote the opera, Moby Dick, which was played by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra last Spring. Composing is just a hobby with Clark, who is assistant director of the Copyright and Music Clearance Department of the Columbia Broadcasting System.
