The tenth of the current series of faculty biographical profiles is presented in this issue on page 13, written by JOHN HURD JR. '21 of the Department of English. The subject this month is PROF. CHARLES A. PROCTOR '00, longtime physics teacher in the College and noted for his versatility in many different academic and athletic fields.
Two statements by President Hopkins touching on academic freedom and student freedom in the emergency of national defense are carried in this issue. Mr. Hopkins' letter to Prof. Harold J. Tobin '17, chairman of the American Defense Dartmouth group, is published in full on page 11.
