PREXY is COMING! Of prime interest to all Dartmouth men in the South is the announcement, appearing elsewhere in this issue of the MAGAZINE, of Prexy Hopkins' projected visit to Atlanta on March 30. Returning from the Pacific coast, Prexy will be surrounded by that famous old ferocious hospitality" (quote from Jim Richardson back in 1921) as soon as he arrives at Dartmouth headquarters at the Biltmore Hotel. Needless to say, the clarion call has been sounded throughout the Southeast for the gathering of the Dartmouth tribe for the big Alumni Banquet on Saturday night March 30. Plan your week-end now—arrange your business trips-invite your mother-in-law for a visit to care for the kiddies. Bring your wife (there will be fun for her, too) and your golf clubs to Atlanta. Write Bill Hayden, c/o Davison Paxon Cos. that you will be on hand. DARTMOUTH IN DIXIE UP! During the Christmas holidays a group 0f 03 alumni, undergraduates, prospective sWdents and proud fathers gathered at the home of Alva Wilson in Atlanta to see five reels of movies about life at Dartmouth, and to talk over the old and new scenes of the College. Chuck Palmer '18 performed adequately, as always, with the camera, although admittedly without his union card. The usual talk fest and beer drinking followed the movies.
Some seeds are being sown (spring planting time is far away, though, as three inch icicles are hanging from every twig and wire) to grow to a well reaped harvest of ovation and acclaim for the Dartmouth football team that meets the University of Georgia team at Athens in the fall of 1941. Al Gottschaldt '18 of Boston, and a former Georgian, is nurturing one seed and we have no doubt of its growth. Another was planted with Jim Landauer '23 of suburban New York, who visited Atlanta with his charming wife Ruth during Christmas week. Jim's seed already has two sprouts- Kip Couch and Dudley Kilmarx. Dartmouth last played football in the South in 1921 and folks are still talking about that game. You can't miss it in 1941- Alumni Associations all over the Southland will share with Georgia in presenting the hospitality. Watch for further details from time to time.
