The Secretary solemnly promises never to retire again and use up all the '98 space. Denis Crowley with his warm heart for every '98 man will do as much for any classmate who retires.
The secretary heard recently through Bobbie Brown that John Eckstorm continues to be one of the outstanding citizens of Columbus, Ohio. No one of our generation can ever forget John's superlative football playing. First a mighty dent in the opponent's line made by his sturdy shoulders, then a lightning dodge and the best football halfback of our day and of any other day was off for a touchdown. It sends a thrill up and down my backbone even now to visualize once more the fleetfooted Eckstorm outrunning the pack.

C. E. Clark has written a most interesting account of A Trip through Europe last summer on his return to his mission field. The boat Samaria left Boston July 15 and took the northern route, stopping at Galway and Cobb in Ireland, Liverpool in England. Across England, via London, to Southampton, visiting many interesting places. Everywhere was seen preparation for war. Then across France. The journey led through Switzerland visiting Lausanne and Lake Geneva and the Castle of Chillon, amid the most beautiful scenery in the world. The journey continued to Milan and Venice and the gondolas. Two days after leaving Venice, Athens was reached—one of the most
interesting cities in the world archeologically. The next day came the Dardenelles and Istanbul. Then by boat across the Black Sea to Merzifon, a most picturesque and highly interesting journey. The recent terrible earthquakes were in the region the Clarks visited in Turkey.
