For want of space the ALUMNI MAGAZINE has lately been turning back a meaty share of our monthly offerings, so for once we're going to restrain the journalistic impulse to unfold tales and build pretty prose. We are, in short, going to lapse, without ado or apologetics, into what is generally believed to be the order of the day: what has happened to old George Spelvin of Eccy 1 & 2, Seat 16.

Bob Ford was married January 26 to Jean Frenz Klein, at Rosebank, Staten Island, with Rigby and Gilbert supporting this particular musician's union And speaking of Gilbert, it was Jane Winsor to whom Jack was wedded last October and whose name we hadn't received at the time. Miss Winsor attended Beaver College in Philadelphia and Katherine Gibbs School Sam McCray joined forces August 19 with Marianna Kiefaber of Dayton. Sam's bride graduated from Erskine School and attended Progressive College in Switzerland Art MacGregor and Beatrice Agnes Crooker were married February 3 in Maiden, Mass Ethel Benvenuta Durant, who was the November bride of Dave Easton, is the daughter of Will Durant, philosopher and author, and attended Bryn Mawr and Sarah Lawrence.

In October Bill Mock wrote to Gruen from the Sorbonne, but according to the newspaper reports he is now in Finland driving an ambulance with a group of Americans who enrolled in the French corps but found little use for their services on the Western Front Frank Engel, and his brother George are interning at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York Bill Gay says his title is ponderous but it's Supervisor of Announcing Staff, KNX, Columbia's station in Hollywood Harry Espenscheid had a busy last summer at Teton Valley Ranch, what with 48 boys there for eight weeks and over 40 dudes for the dude season. Bob Offenbach says he is having a good time, for an easterner, in the land of oil wells and Indians. Al Hewitt, still on the road with the Shrew, checks in from Beaumont, Texas with brief news that he succeeded in uncovering a couple of 34s in his recent travels. Ace Brown and wife showed up at the theater in San Francisco. "In Los Angeles I saw a lot of Fred Rinaldo and his wife. Fred continues on up the M.G.M. ladder, being now a writer of features. The stories he tells about Hollywood madness make the hair for to curl. Also saw Brice Banks, who is, happily, at long last doing some writing The tour finishes February 3rd in New Haven."
Odyssey of Brent Barker since Commencement: (1) worked for Montgomery Ward 1934-38 at Baltimore, Md. and Hickory, N. Carolina; (2) married Thelma Johnston July 5, 1936, in York, S. Carolina; (3) became father of Harvey Ward Barker August 24, 1937; (4) decided on change of vork, so returned to Connecticut August 1938 for job as appliance salesman; (5) in spring of 1939 received financial backing to buy out a small hardware store in East Haven. Hopes to build it up to a fair sized establishment.

Bob Thompson, who is traffic manager of the Vermont Transit and Burlington Rapid Transit Companies, was elected chairman of the New England States Bus Traffic Association at the annual meeting in January. The Association, which has 55 company members, represents motor coach operations of practically all companies in the 6 New England states and the easternmost Canadian provinces.

Louis Marrero is father of Marie Dolores, born August 25 and doing fine Earl Draper, who is working for Johns-Manville in Nashua, N. H., may be a father by now, according to our spies Ed Hill, who is with the War Department, in the U. S. Engineer Office at Providence, is now writing specifications for all the department's construction work, does some designing and spends the rest of his time on field inspection trips.
And that is the story for this month of George Spelvin '34. We hope to hear between now and next issue from some more of Spelvin's friends, meaning you boys out in the field. Nothing you say will be held against you, but it will all be printed here.
