Fred E. Winn of Redlands, Calif, celebrated with his wife their 6oth wedding anniversary July 25 at Long Beach, Calif. Relatives and friends made a dinner party, and letters of congratulations were received from others. The Winns expect to return to Redlands after Oct. 1. They have been at Long Beach to benefit Winn's health.

Paul Codman Sanborn, the younger son of Sanborn '87 and the brother of Ralph Sanborn '17, died suddenly in New York City July 12. He began Life Insurance at the age of 21, and immediately rose to prominence. He was elected President of the Round Table for Insurance Agents who wrote at least a million dollars worth of life insurance a year.

In later years he became absorbed in the development and completion of a mechanical device that would make life insurance policies as readily available as accident policies. He gave six years of unremitting effort to this project. His health gave way, and he died suddenly July 12, 1948, at the age of 47 years.

John Dana Bell, of Boise, Idaho wrote a letter of thanks for the picture of the eight graduates, Bingham, Cushman, Gage, Hadlock, Howland, Johnson, Sanborn, White, who attended the 60th anniversary of '87. He put the picture "on the table in the front room" and, believe it or not, he "picks it up most every day," and with sincerity says, "What a fine class!"

John Dana's letter was dated last March 31. He says, "Today has been warm and sunny. We have had a very easy winter, little snow and temperature not down to zero." New England and New York City think of that for comfort last winter. Go west, young man! "This afternoon my wife and I called upon a neighbor who we imagined felt rather neglected," and he calmly adds, "I went last night to an interesting lecture on Light and Electricity. " Up and coming for an '87 graduate!
