BILL CUNNINGHAM '19, sports columnist for the Boston Post, was guest of honor at a testimonial banquet attended by nearly a thousand of his friends at the Copley-Plaza Hotel in Boston on February 11. The banquet was held on his 44th birthday and was climaxed with the presentation of a Buick sport coupe, painted Dartmouth green.

As friends and well-wishers of Bill, many distinguished persons were in attendance. Police Commissioner Timilty, chairman of the dinner, read a telegram from President Roosevelt extending personal greetings. Among those introduced by Neal O'Hara, toastmaster, were Governor Saltonstall of Massachusetts, Governor Barrows of Maine, and former Governor Louis J. Brann of Maine. Also present were Stanley Woodward, Lou Little, Quentin Reynolds, Bill Bingham of Harvard, Ben Ames Williams '10, Jack Sharkey, and other leaders in the sports and newspaper fields.

The delegation attending the banquet from Dartmouth included William H. McCarter '19, director of athletics; Coach Earl Blaik; Prof. Prescott Orde Skinner; Mrs. Mary "Ma" Smalley; Harry Hillman; Harry Ellinger; Jeff Tesreau; Ossie Cowles: and "Whitey" Fuller '37. Professor Skinner and Mrs. Smalley were among the speakers of the evening.
