Jim Mulally was recently elected President of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of the Northwest, and Lafayette Chamberlin, President of the Boston Alumni Association. We know that both these gentlemen will attend to their respectful duties faithfully and well.
In the recent deaths of Dean Laycock and Arthur Hanlon 'O3, the Class has lost two good friends and two men who were genuinely respected and liked by us, and whom we were always glad to see at any events whether college or class. Both of these men had the happy faculty of making friends and in having an implied membership in every group. Our deep and sincere sympathy is extended to their families.
Harold King is disappointed that his plans to attend the Reunion will not materialize, as he is leaving on a trip to Alaska the last of May and will not return home until well after the event is over. He expects to make a trip to Boston in the fall, probably in October, and expects to call on friends at that time.
The best wishes of the Class to Ruth Weyburn and Henry S. Parker Jr., whose engagement was recently announced by Lyon and Mrs. Weyburn. Ruth attended the Masters School, Dobbs Ferry, N. Y., Mr. Parker is a graduate of Harvard, 1935.
A recent letter from Joe Merrill stated that he was slowly getting over a severe attack of the grippe and that he is looking forward with a lot of pleasure to the Reunion. Joe and Mrs. Merrill attended the Commencement Exercises at Massachusetts State College last June when their daughter Frances graduated.
Stanley Besse has had a severe illness requiring an operation for a ruptured appendix. He is at the Brooklyn Hospital, DeKalb Ave., Brooklyn, where he is convalescing. The latest reports state that he is gaining nicely but will probably have to stay there until about the end of May. Everyone wishes him a complete and speedy recovery.
