ATTENDED BY 90 CLASS and club repre. sentatives, the 36th annual meeting of the Dartmouth Secretaries Association was held in Hanover on May 10 and 11. A luncheon at the Hanover Inn opened the two-day program, which also included business sessions in the 1902 Room of Baker Library on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, and the annual Association dinner in Thayer Hall on Friday evening. H. Philip Patey '98, president of the Association, served as toastmaster for the dinner, at which President Hopkins and Thomas W. Braden Jr. '40, secretary of the senior class, were the principal speakers.
Officers of the Association for the coming year were elected as follows: Osmun Skinner '28 of New York City, president; David S. Austin II '04 of Waterville Valley, N. H., vice president; Sidney C. Hayward '26 of Hanover, secretary-treasurer. Mr. Hayward was reelected editor of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, and Warde Wilkins '13 of Boston was reelected to another three-year term as representative of the Association on the Alumni Council. Sherman Baldwin '23 of Worcester, Mass., was elected to the Alumni Council for one year to fill the unexpired term of Robert J. Holmes '09, who has retired from the Secretaries Association.
John P. English '16 of Stoneham, Mass., and Doane Arnold '27 of Waban, Mass., were elected members of the Executive Committee of the Association, to serve with Messrs. Skinner, Austin and Hayward. Daniel B. Ruggles Jr. '21 of Boston was elected to a three-year term on the advisory board of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE.
Dean E. Gordon Bill was the principal speaker at the luncheon opening the Association's program. Speakers at the two business sessions included Prof. Herbert F. West '22, secretary of the Friends of the Dartmouth Library; Harold P. Hinman 'lO, representative of the Association on the Alumni Council and chairman of the special committee on the Class Group Subscription Plan for the MAGAZINE; Prof. Francis J. Neef, director of the Personnel Bureau; Dean Lloyd K. Neidlinger '23, who spoke on administrative-undergraduate affairs; Prof. Herbert W. Hill, chairman of Hanover Holiday; William H. McCarter '19, director of athletics; Richard E. Pritchard '14, member of the Alumni Council, who spoke on the proposed summer class reunions; Albert I. Dickerson '30, executive secretary of the Alumni Fund; and Sidney C. Hayward '26, editor, and Davis Jackson '36, business manager, who reported on the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. Donald G. Mix '21 of Worcester, Mass., presided over a special meeting of club secretaries following the final business session.
