As THIS ISSUE goes to press (June 23), receipts of the Alumni Fund indicate that there is fair probability that this year's objective of $115,000 will be realized by the time the Fund closes at midnight, June 30.
On June 23 the corps of class agents swung into the final phase of the campaign —the "home stretch," so to speak, with $98,157.13 already contributed, which compares favorably with last year's figure of the same date— $91,834.18—an improvement of $6,322.95.
Similarly, the number of contributors was higher this year than at the same point last year—7,668 as against 7,214, an increase of 6.2%. Twenty-four classes had topped their individual dollar-objectives. Outstanding classes in their respective "Green Derby" groupings were 1930, 1926, 1918 and 1901.
Whether the current success of the Fund could be maintained through the last few crucial days of the campaign was a matter for speculation, and it was hoped that last minute appeals by class agents plus a final "reminder" to all non-contributors from the Alumni Fund Committee would serve to prevent any slump.
