BY THE TIME you read this, the Dartmouth Outing Club of New York, under the able leadership of "Rip" Ripsom and his fellow officers, will have concluded another successful winter season, in which more of our 80-plus members took an active part in the Club activities than ever before. During the winter the Club has held monthly meetings, has sponsored two benefit ski shows which were the largest and most successful affairs of this kind given in N. Y., has featured Sunday snow train excursions for the one-day skiers, and has acted as a clearing house of information for Dartmouth men in the N. Y. area who wanted to get together with others who learned their skiing in the Hanover hills.

Highlights of the season were our two long week-end trips to Jug End Barn in North Egremont, Mass., during January, and to Rutland, Vt., in February, each attended by over twenty-five DOCNY men (plus galsl). In addition, we are planning a week-end trip to Tuckerman's Ravine in April to wind up the season.

Several of our members have taken part as individuals or as a Club team in various competitive events this winter, and to clima:x these, our five-man team of Marv Chandler, A 1 Conklinj Ed Meservey, Don Richardson, and Erik Sand retained the N. Y. C. Club Championship (held at Rutland, Vt., Feb. 22-23) f°r the second year in a row. Each year the calibre of competition in this event has been improving, and it has now become a real honor for a team to win this event. Ed Meservey, former ski team star, won the slalom in this NYC race and placed third in the combined, helping us win the team title and incidentally making Ed the DOCNY club champion for the year, replacing Erik Sand.

In addition to this, DOCNY men are active in local and National Ski Patrol activities and on the N. Y. Ski Council, where they work for the interests of all NYC's thousands of enthusiastic skiers. In closing, let me again invite all Dartmouth skiers who are in the NY region to get in touch with us, now or next season; we're the best ski club in town, and we'll be glad to have you with us!
