Although there are no class quotas for the Alumni Fund this year, the Alumni Council's Committee in charge announces that it does have an objective, and it is high. The Fund Committee has asked Dartmouth men to measure their gifts to the 1941 campaign that is now under way in terms of properly recognizing the Ernest Martin Hopkins 25th Anniversary. The entire Alumni Fund results this year will be turned over to President Hopkins for his unrestricted use or uses in meeting needs of the College as he may decide to be possible and desirable after June 30, when the campaign ends.
The warm affection and complete respect of Dartmouth men for the leader of the College in the past quarter-century is familiar to all alumni. What others think of him, and Mr. Hopkins' position of prestige in the nation, was expressed in the splendid tributes published in the Alumni Fund's brochure last month, and sent to all the alumni. The statements are gratifying and impressive by the obvious sincerity of the nationally and internationally noted men who wrote of their affection and admiration for one Ernest Hopkins.
More than ever before the Dartmouth Alumni Fund on the Tucker Foundation promises to go far beyond the achievement of any previous call for the support of the alumni. This is the Hopkins 25th Anniver- sary Campaign. There are no elaborate plans. There will be no public campaign. Alumni and friends of the College are asked to join in giving recognition to a very important milestone in Dartmouth history. There is no quota this year—but the objective is very high.
