That there is a lot to barbershop singing besides the singing is revealed by the everincreasing activities of Tenor F. Stirling Wilson, 1916 class secretary. Through his volunteer press agent, Jack English '16, it was recently discovered that not only is Wilson the International Historian of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., less widely known as the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, but his most recent lyrics for the "Girl in the Old Picture Frame" have won the first prize offered by the International Society, as announced in the March issue of Harmonizer, the Society's magazine. This is hot the first recognition given to Wilson for his lyrics, as "Diggin' Sweet Potatoes on the Eastern Shore," whose words he wrote, is a hit number among barbershoppers all over the country.

For the past two years, Wilson has also been the liaison man between the Armed Services and the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. This is a major undertaking as the Society furnishes quartets for overseas tours wherever servicemen may be. In addition to singing with the Washingtones, the quartet of which Wilson is a member, and all his other activities for the Society, he is at present organizing a breakfast for 1200 barbershoppers who will visit Washington next month.
