ON FEBRUARY 6 the Eastern Connecticut Alumni Association held a long-overdue meeting at the home of Doctor "Hug" Lena '12. A relatively large twenty-twoman alumni contingent partook of their host's ample dinner and then elected him President of the Club for the current year, thereby setting forth an example of Connecticut's kind of gratitude. Arno Vogt 'go, is the new Secretary and we hereby congratulate him and wish him a full and successful tenure.

New Haven gathered on the evening of the Dartmouth-Yale basketball game, thereby cementing an annual and very worthwhile custom. Fifty-five alumni and wives held forth for dinner at the Faculty Club, at which point the contingent, aided and abetted by a large number of additional alumni from all over the State, cheered a great Dartmouth team, and particularly its native son Gus Broberg, to a hard-earned victory.

On March 29 A1 Foley held forth at a subsequent New Haven meeting and in his best fashion proceeded to fill the aisles with rolling men. Although forewarned in advance of the presence of wives, without which New Haven alumni seem to be at a loss, A1 decided to put in his appearance anyway. No casualties were reported.

The best Hartford meeting in over a year is reported by the Club's energetic Secretary, Fran Fenn '37. It was held on April 3, with Professor Stearns Morse delivering an excellent talk on the Dartmouth Defense Group before an audience of over sixty men. Bob Lang '3B spoke on the Council of Student Organizations, which he heads. More and more professors are shuttling back and forth into the Connecticut Valley Region instilling new vitality and serious thought into alumni gatherings which, not so long ago, seemed, perhaps, more pre-occupied with the lighter than with the more serious side of Dartmouth. This is not meant as an aspersion, but is a definite indication of the trend.

On March 6 the N.V.D.A.A. (meaning Naugatuck Valley Dartmouth Alumni Association, New Deal influences obviously very strong there) met and elected '33's effervescent, politico-legal humorist and class secretary, John Monagan, president, John E. O'Donnell '18 vice president and G. L. "Shorty" Thomas '34, secretarytreasurer. Judging by the calibre of the work the latter is doing the job is his for life. A 1 Fusonie '29, retiring president, was given a hearty ovation. Candidates for admission from that area reached a new high in numbers and quality and the local committee accomplished a splendid job.

The Bridgeport Club had as its guest on February 26, Charlie Widmayer '30, Director of the College News Service and successful operative at other important posts in the Dartmouth Administrative whirl. A stimulating discussion of student attitudes and news of current goings-on sent over thirty men away convinced that Charlie is doing a grand job. For the coming year the following were elected officers: John Zellers '28, president; Sumner "Gus" Farwell '37, vice president; Robert Naramore '35, secretary and Bill Haist '34, treasurer.
