Oldest Grad Nears 100

DR. ZEEB GILMAN '63who will celebrate his 100 th birthday atRedlands, Calif., on May 13. He hasthrived on California sunshine since 1890,when he gave up his coal and lumber business in lowa and settled in the quiet, littlecity of Redlands. Dr. Gilman, still alert andin good health, is also the oldest livinggraduate of Columbia Physicians and Surgeons College, from which he received hismedical degree in 1867. While a Dartmouth undergraduate he served for threemonths with the Union Army and was onceassigned as a guard outside President Lincoln's office. His daughter, with whom helives in Redlands, is often approached byparents who want their children to shakethe hand which shook the hand of Lincoln.The above picture was taken a year agoupon the occasion of Dr. Gilman's 99thbirthday.
