Our 25th Reunion Gift Committee must wind up its work shortly, to avoid conflict with the regular annual Alumni Fund campaign. Chairman Emerson points out that D. alumni showed great anxiety over the difficult College financial problems during World War I. For instance, in 1917 contributors to the Alumni Fund numbered 1066, but 2729 gave in 1918. Total gifts went up from $17,540 to $64,429. Average gift went from $16.45 t0 $23.61, never equalled since!....On Feb. 7th our Reunion Fund showed $3684 in hand, with some pledges still to be fulfilled. This is very gratifying. But only 98 men had signed up, their average support is obviously high, but we need at least 50 more contributors in this demonstration of whole-Class appreciation. Will you be one? Any check you write is a significant token. Make it to the order of "Dartmouth College—Class of 1917 Fund" and mail to S. B. Emerson, 2 Wall St., N. Y. C. Let's reach that $5OOO objective. By the time this is printed, maybe it is your check that will just put this fine job over.
