War Flavor for Fund
March 1942

The probable character of the 1942 Alumni Fund campaign has been set by the first two contributions in from the Class of 1939. One was from the Army and the other from the Navy, with the Marines likely to be heard from as soon as there is a let-up. One '39 gift came all the way from Pearl Harbor—a check drawn on a still-good Hawaiian bank.

Another early gift to the 1942 Fund has been made in memory of Ensign Charles M. Stern Jr. '36, the first Dartmouth casualty of the war. Contributions are already arriving in a thin but steady stream even though the regular Fund campaign does not start until late April.
