IT IS EVIDENT FROM THE NUMBER OF LETTERS RECEIVED BY COLLEGE Authorities that alumni, both younger and older men, seek information in compact form about the terms and conditions of various types of military service. In order to meet this demand for this information from the student body in Hanover the American Defense Dartmouth Group published last fall a manual titled "Student Military Service" which was mailed to all parents of Dartmouth students and also distributed to undergraduates.
Prof. Donald L. Stone, chairman of the military service sub-committee of the Dartmouth Defense Group, prepared the original manual last fall. He has kindly made a new survey with emphasis on military service questions and problems of men beyond student age, including a section of the latest available information on Selective Service.
Mr. Stone makes a highly valued contribution to our discussion in these pages this month on the question: "What can I do?". The following catalog of information for alumni represents a large amount of time and work in research on all types of military service. The exact conditions change rapidly. The information is as accurate and as full as it can be made as of the present time. The Dartmouth Defense Group will appreciate being informed of omissions or inaccuracies so that its records can be kept up-to-date.
