Summer Course for Writers
August 1942

THIS SUMMER saw an influx of twenty writers to Hanover when "Summer Conversations on Writing" opened on July 7 under the supervision of Prof. Sidney Cox of the English department. Ages varied from 18 to 50 years. Panama and eight states were represented.

Given for the first time in 1941, "Summer Conversations on Writing" is just what its name implies. The group of writers meet with Professor Cox and try out their work on fellow-writers. No formal lectures are given and no writing assignments made. Members of the group are free to follow their own writing trends and this year two of the writers are working on projects already approved by publishers. Inasmuch as progression in the course is personal and not categorical, members are admitted to the group for periods as short as two weeks.
