REPERCUSSIONS OF THE hard fighting in the pursuit of Rommel's army in North Africa are felt in the news received here recently to the effect that Bill Durkee '41, a member of the King's Royal Rifles, has been seriously wounded in action. The report came in the form of a cable from young Durkee to his uncle, James T. Durkee '17, of Los Angeles, stating, SERI- OUSLY WOUNDED IN BOTH LEGS. WILL NOT LOSE LIMBS BUT WILL HAVE LIMP. GUESS MY ARMY DAYS ARE OVER. A second cable received later said, CONDITION GOOD BUT IT WILL BE A LONG HAUL.

Durkee and two classmates, Jack Brister and Chuck Bolte, joined the British infantry regiment immediately upon graduation. After training in England, they sailed, in June, for North Africa with the Middle East forces of the B.E.F.

Bolte was wounded in action several weeks ago and has lost his right foot. Although no direct word has been received, it has been reported that the third member of the trio, Brister, was wounded slightly but is now back in action.
