IT WOULD BE futile to add anything of praise or of wonder to all that has been said of the results of the 1942 Alumni Fund campaign. Surpassing the 1941 Fund by a comfortable margin in many respects, it is evidence of the faith of Dartmouth men in their Alma Mater, and of their confidence in the Administration of the College. Conscious that the College had serious problems, but without a bill of particulars, for the exact nature of those problems will be unpredictable for the duration, they gave and gave generously. Speaking on behalf of Thayer Men, we can say only that we are happy to have had a humble part in this glorious result.

For, when the figures were all in, Thayer Men had contributed a total $7,810.25, an increase of seven and one-quarter per cent over 1941, an increase which compares very favorably with that of the Fund. Under the plan, the portion of receipts allotted to Thayer School is $3,200.

The 1942 contributions of Thayer Men., and the 1941 contributions as well, exceeded those of every year since 1931, the last of the "roaring" years.

However, a figure of $9,162 has been set up for Thayer Men to shoot at. This is the average of seven "roaring" years and six "depression" years, 1925 to 1937 inclusive. It is only seventeen per cent more than the 1942 figure. Bearing this in mind, and aware that our single contribution is in fact a contribution to two causes, let us keep aiming closer and closer until we hit the bullseye.
