Fraternity Council
October 1943

ALUMNI REPRESENTATIVES of the Dartmouth fraternity chapters reestablished the Alumni Interfraternity Council, an organization which formerly existed, and elected Prof. Martin L. Lindahl of Sigma Chi chairman, at a meeting held in Reed Hall on July 9.

This was the second meeting of the group of alumni representatives, which had first met on June 25 to discuss the common problems related to the closing of fraternity houses on July 1. It was agreed at the first meeting that a continuing organization might be useful in solving the problems with regard to the maintenance of fraternity properties and meeting financial obligations of the chapters, estimated to average $1500 annually in taxes, insurance, and interest alone.

By vote of the group, Chairman Lindahl was authorized to name a secretary and three other members of an executive committee. He has appointed Albert I. Dickerson '30, representative of Alpha Delta Phi, as secretary. The other executive committee members are: Harry W. Sampson '21 of Gamma Delta Chi, Norman Stevenson '05 of Psi Upsilon, and Prof. Andrew J. Scarlett '10 of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

Professor Scarlett presided at the July 9 meeting, which resulted in the organization of the council. Representatives of the various chapters on this council are the following:
